Overview of the surgery:

A brow lift is a type of plastic surgery use to raise the eyebrows and reduce ridges
and furrows on the forehead, thus creating a smoother, more youthful appearance.
This procedure is typically done with other facial surgeries, namely those on the
eyelids. Patients can choose to raise any parts of the brows from heads to tails. There
are several brow lift techniques. Each has advantage and disadvantage. You will have
a thorough discussion with our doctor to see what is right for you.

Risks and Complications:
Complications are rare; however, there are risks associated with any medical
procedure. Some patients may not be able to move their eyebrows or forehead. Scar
formation and permanent hair loss within the scar area may occur. Permanent lack
of sensation at the incision line is also a rare complication. Infection, bleeding, and
other minor complications are possible.
Recovery Period:
The upper eyelids can become bruised and swollen for 1-2 weeks following surgery.
Depending on the techniques used, there may be stitches, staples or palpable screws
in the scalp which are removed in the office 10-14 days after surgery.

Preparation Prior To Surgery:
 Medical history assessment (any allergies, serious medical condition and all
medications taken both prescribed and non-prescribed), physical
examination, and laboratory tests will be performed during consultation.
 Avoid smoking   for about 3-4 weeks prior to surgery, as nicotine interferes
with circulation and will greatly affect healing process.
 Stop drinking alcohol, a week before the surgery and throughout your
recovery period.
 Taking any medications should be avoided such as hormones, anticoagulants,
anabolic steroids and supplements at least 4-6 weeks to prevent complicating

medical factors prior to surgery, and also avoid taking aspirin, anti-
inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.
